description:
Isolast is a perfluoroelastomer that combines the elastic properties of fluorocarbon (FKM) with the outstanding chemical resistance and the high temperature stability of PTFE. Isolast seals can be used for applications in high temperature service up to appr. +325? C. Isolast O-rings are available in metric and imperial dimensions to ISO 3601, AS 568 A, BS 1806 and BS 4518, cords, foils, moulded slabs and custom moulded parts. |
Method of Operation:
O-Rings are double-acting sealing elements. The inital squeeze, which acts in a radial or axial direction depending on the installation, gives the O-Ring its initial sealing capability. These forces are superimposed by the system pressure to create the total sealing force which increases as the systeme pressure increases. Under pressure, the O-Ring behaves in a similar way to a fluid with high surface tension. The pressure is transmitted uniformly to all directions. |
